Our very own Dan Hawker embarked on yet another challenge in September, this time is aid of Julia's House Children's Hospital
He faced a gruelling 55km Ultra Hike across the pictuesque Lake District, alongside Julia's House CEO, Martin Edwards, as part of Martins 20/20 Challenge. Julia's House is your local children's hospital providing specialist care.
After the heartbreaking loss of a child supported by Julia's House, there was an idea made by her sister for Matrin Edwards to mark the 20th anniversary of the charity with a fundraising challenge. He needed to ask 20 people to take on a fundraising challenge with him - and just like that, the 20/20 Challenge was born.
To date Dan has personally raised £10,106 for the Julia's House charity, and has made a video thanking his supporters and informing others of how the money supports familys and children. Because no parent expects to live longer than their child, but for many families Julia's House support, this is areality.
Dan Hawker got a few honerble mentions from some celebrities. To name a few, they were: Lenny Henry, Tom Allsop, Jason Cundy, and many more.
Here is what Martin Edwards, Chief Exectuive had to say:
‘Dan is one of the most committed and compassionate people I have ever met, and I am so grateful that he took on this challenge to help the children and families in our care at Julia’s House. Thank you so much from us all!’
Julia’s House is your local children’s hospice, providing specialist care to children with life-limiting and complex conditions and supporting their families, giving them all a chance to have the magical moments and memories every child and family deserves.
Our amazing nurses and carers bring clinical care, fun, laughter and compassion to the children they support. And we give exhausted parents a much-needed respite break from around the clock care, with the peace of mind their child is in safe hands.
Childhood is precious and fleeting, especially for those in hospice care. Every moment matters, every memory is treasured making it so important we help the children we look after just enjoy being children, while their families know they are in a safe place with the very best clinical care, love and attention.
Our fundraising success would not have been possible without the generosity of our customers, partners and wider community. Every donation, every car washed, every mile walked and every event attended has contributed towards helping Julia’s House continue delivering specialist care, compassion and joy to local families. As a business rooted in the Swindon community, we believe in driving positive change beyond the road. Supporting Julia’s House throughout 2024 and 2025 has been a privilege — and we look forward to continuing to make a meaningful difference wherever we can.
Together, we have helped ensure more children and families can experience the magical moments and memories they deserve
