The Kia EV9 is the World Car of the Year 2024 winner

​The winner was announced at the New York international Auto Show, following the announcement Paul Philpott, President and CEO, Kia UK said "This is fantastic recognition for such an important vehicle in our ever-evolving line-up. It's made all the more important due to recognition from such esteemed journalists from the UK and around the world. I'm very proud of the Kia team for bringing such a sensational vehicle to market. We are fast becoming a true leader in electric vehicles."​

The Kia EV9 is a sophisticated SUV designed for elegance and strong presence, while also serving as a responsive electric car ideal for city driving. Inspired by the harmonious blend of nature and modernity, the EV9 captures attention with broad dimensions and daring geometry, along with a bold, stylish interior. From front to back, exceptional design features make it a stand-out both on city streets and the open road.

To be considered for the award the EV9 had to meet the strict eligibility criteria before being tested and voted for by a global panel of 100 automotive journalists, from 29 countries tested 38 vehicles for the main prize. The qualifications for entry are that a car must exceed 10,000 units in production annually, be on sale in at least two major global markets and be priced below luxury options in their respective regions.

Not only this, the Kia EV9 also took home the World Electric Vehicle of the Year Award, beating the BMW i5 and the Volvo EX30.
