What is the New Vehicle Payment?

The New Vehicle Payment is a one-time payment of £750 for cars and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs) under the Motability Scheme. This payment helps offset the rising cost of new vehicles due to global shortages.

Eligibility

  • You are eligible for the New Vehicle Payment if you ordered your first vehicle on or before 3 January 2025.
  • If you ordered your first vehicle from 4 January 2025 onwards, you will not receive this payment.
  • If you are already on the Scheme and haven’t received the payment yet, it will be provided with your next vehicle.
  • The payment is issued only once, not each time you get a new vehicle.
  • You cannot receive both the New Vehicle Payment and the New Product Payment.

*These cars are available at a fixed weekly amount for the whole of your lease agreement. The remainder of your allowance, including any annual increases, will be paid directly to you by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or Veterans UK depending on which allowance you receive. It's the most affordable way to access a car on the Motability scheme.

Advance Payment (AP) offers are valid for Motability applications between 1st January - 31st March 2025 and are correct at the time of publication. Motability customers agree to pay all or part of the Motability Allowance (DLA or WPMS) depending on their choice of vehicle, for the duration of their contract hire or hire purchase agreement.

^Prices shown for customers who wish to use the Motability £750 New Vehicle Payment towards the Advanced Payment required. If the Advanced Payments falls below £750, the remainder will be returned to the customer.
