First launched in 2010, the Nissan LEAF was introduced as a mass-market, all-electric car. The latest generation moves the name forward with a longer driving range, updated technology and practical space for five people.

The All-New Nissan LEAF is available with 52kWh and 75kWh battery options.
The 52kWh LEAF Engage has an official WLTP combined range of up to 280 miles. The larger 75kWh battery offers up to 387 miles in LEAF Engage specification.
These official laboratory figures are useful for comparing vehicles, but they are not guaranteed real-world distances. Actual range will vary with factors including speed, driving style, weather, temperature, vehicle load and use of heating or air conditioning.
Using a compatible DC rapid charger, Nissan states that both battery versions can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 35 minutes under specified test conditions.
An 11kW onboard AC charger is also available. Nissan states that the 75kWh battery can charge from 10% to 100% in as little as seven hours using a compatible 11kW home charger.
Google Maps is integrated into suitably equipped versions of the LEAF. Its route-planning system can suggest charging stops using information including the predicted battery level and real-time charger availability. Battery preconditioning can prepare the battery before a planned rapid-charging stop.
An electric motor delivers torque without waiting for a petrol or diesel engine to build revs, helping the LEAF respond promptly when pulling away.

The LEAF uses a single-speed electric drivetrain, so there are no conventional multi-speed gear changes. There is also no combustion-engine noise, although drivers will still hear tyre, wind and legally required low-speed warning sounds.

The All-New LEAF has five doors, five seats and a 437-litre luggage compartment with the rear seats in use. Folding the rear seats increases the quoted luggage capacity to 1,052 litres.
Its official dimensions are 4,350mm long, 1,810mm wide excluding mirrors and 1,550mm high.
