The EV6 has dispelled many of the concerns around electric vehicles and showcases the advancements in battery and charging technology.
This class has exploded over the last few years, which makes this award even more prestigious. WhatCar? described what it would take to win by saying, “a candidate has to seamlessly blend the ability to cover long distances with enough practicality to serve as a family’s sole mode of transport”.
The Kia EV6 impressed with its styling, and the ability to hide its size so well, ultimately blurring the lines between hatchback and SUV. However, the true size inside gives plenty of headroom and gives that sense of openness and space, which stood out against its rivals. So much so, the back was described as being, “treated to almost limo-like levels of space”.
The Kia EV6 carried on impressing with its 77.4kWh battery, which officially allows it to go 328 miles between charges. Not to mention, that with the correct charger you can top up from 10% - 80% in just 17 minutes, which is quicker than the entry-level Tesla Model 3.
We will leave the last words to WhatCar? themselves.
“Finally, the fact that it’s enjoyable to drive means the EV6 leaves no box unticked. The 226bhp electric motor is strong enough to push you into your seat, delivering a 0-62mph sprint time of 7.3sec. Meanwhile, the suspension strikes a fine balance between comfort and control, and the EV6 is more refined than all its key rivals, further bolstering its credentials as a long-distance cruiser. All in all, it mixes space and pace with considerable grace.”
