Job description

Fish Brothers Group are looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer.

The Company

Fish Brothers established in 1948, is an independent, multi site, multi manufacturer network of car dealerships based in and around Swindon. The furthest site being in Faringdon.

The company is undergoing transformational changes in the way that IT services are delivered to all users within the business. We are moving from Linux based systems to Microsoft active directory hosted on Hyper-V machines and all systems associated in a modern IT estate.

This is a varied and dynamic position that requires a personality to match in order to be successful.

The Position

IT Support Engineer – This is a permanent full-time position 8.30 – 17.30 Mon to Fri, with an hour unpaid lunch break.

Position Description – To assist the IT Manager in providing a professional, effective & efficient IT service to all users at all 12 sites.

Outline of Responsibilities.

  • Resolve levels 1-3 IT issues associated with operating systems (Windows 10 – server 2019), desktops/laptops, networks, software, hardware, printers, i.p. phone system (Shoretel/Mitel).
  • Respond promptly to calls using a ticket system.
  • Carry out IT housekeeping, i.e. maintain backup schedule, security updates.
  • Ensure virus protection is kept up to date.
  • Maintain backup/restores of files or other objects using veeam.
  • Maintain the asset database and software inventory, carrying out annual verification.
  • Installation of new software.
  • Installation of new hardware.
  • Create/edit user accounts on relevant IT systems, adding and deleting users as they join or leave the organisation.
  • Maintain users on the telephone system, maintaining the telephone directory
  • Maintaining records of Microsoft licences.
  • Ensure the safe disposal of obsolete IT equipment, used consumables and waste materials in line with procedures and legal requirements to maintain a tidy working and storage area.
  • Support the implementation of IT projects.
  • Escalate more complex issues to the IT Manager where appropriate.
  • Liaise with IT contacts at vehicle manufacturers regarding manufacturer specific systems.

The ideal candidate will need to;

  • Demonstrate they have experience providing first class IT support.
  • Use a ticket system in conjunction with the priorities of the business to provide timely support to users.
  • Perform a one-time visit fix as much as is possible.
  • Work independently, proactively and as a member of a small team.
  • Be able to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels within the business.
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude, as some issues will arise that we have not seen before.
  • Have a clean driving licence.
